The 1910 “Road Trip” of the Abernathy Brothers – Registration Required
A President, a Breakfast Cereal and a Brush: The 1910 “Road Trip” by the Abernathy Boys presented by historian, researcher, author and public speaker Jay A. Follis. In 1910, before good roads, GPS or even gas stations— when only about a dozen people had successfully driven across the country— two brothers headed out alone on a 2,500 mile trek in a brand new motorcar. They were 9 and 6 years old! While the trip was from New York City to Oklahoma City, they were determined to detour across the state of Michigan to see where their car was produced.
